Mont-Valérien, Eminent Place of the National Memory

From 1941 to 1945, during the Second World War, the Mont-Valérien served as a site of execution for more than 1.000 resistance fighters sentenced to death and hostages who were victims of the Nazi occupation.

You will be able to discover the clearing, the chapel and the monument in memory of those executed, as well as the Memorial of the French Resistance.

There is an additional exhibition room located in the crypt of the memorial which explains how this memorial site was created following the wishes of General De Gaulle. Finally, there is an information center which offers archive films about the history of the Mont-Valérien since WWII and provides visitors with interactive touch screens showing the lives and stories of those executed.
